A Garage Floor Built to Outlast the House

A flake floor is what most homeowners picture when they think "epoxy garage." We diamond-grind the bare concrete, repair every crack and pit, then broadcast decorative flake across a pigmented base coat and lock it all in under a clear polyaspartic topcoat.

The result is a seamless, easy-to-clean surface that resists hot-tire pickup, oil, chemicals and impact — and hides the imperfections a plain concrete slab never could. It’s the most durable floor we offer, and it’s backed by a lifetime warranty against chipping and peeling.

Our process

How We Install Your Floor

A proper coating is 90% preparation. Here’s the system behind every Check’s floor.

Diamond Grinding01
Day one · Grind

Diamond Grinding

We mechanically grind the concrete to open the surface profile. This is the step cheap coatings skip — and the reason they peel. A properly ground slab is what makes the bond permanent.

Repair & Prep02
Day one · Repair

Repair & Prep

Cracks, pits, spalling and control joints are filled, ground flush and vacuumed clean. We leave a smooth, sound surface ready to accept coating.

Base Coat & Flake03
Day one · Color

Base Coat & Flake

A pigmented base coat goes down and we broadcast decorative flake to refusal while it’s wet, then scrape it back the next day for an even, consistent texture.

Polyaspartic Topcoat04
Day two · Seal

Polyaspartic Topcoat

A UV-stable clear polyaspartic seals everything in — the layer that resists hot tires, chemicals and Arizona sun, and gives the floor its finished depth and gloss.

Ground, coated and back in service in one to two days — backed by a lifetime warranty.

Flake Garage Floors — Common Questions

The questions flake garage floors customers ask us most.

How is this different from a big-box garage floor kit?
Two things: what goes down, and what happens first. A kit is a thin roll-on epoxy applied over concrete that has been acid-etched at best, so it has almost nothing to grip. We diamond-grind the slab to a mechanical profile, repair it, then broadcast flake to full refusal and seal it under a polyaspartic topcoat. That is why ours carries a lifetime warranty against chipping and peeling and a kit lasts a season or two.
Can I choose the flake colour?
Yes. Flake comes in blended colours and you pick the blend, so the floor matches the space rather than the other way round. We will bring samples to the walkthrough — colours read very differently under garage lighting than they do on a screen.
Is a flake floor slippery?
Less than bare sealed concrete. The flake itself creates texture under the topcoat, so the finished surface has grip even when wet. If the floor is going somewhere that gets properly wet — a patio, a pool deck, a wash bay — we can add an anti-slip additive to the topcoat.
What happens where the floor meets the wall?
We can finish flush at the wall or run the system up as a cove base, which curves the floor into the wall and removes the seam entirely. Cove base costs more but it makes the floor genuinely easy to hose out, which is why most shops and commercial spaces choose it.
Does the whole garage have to be emptied?
Yes — we need the full slab clear to grind and coat it. Cars, shelving, fridges, everything. Plan for the garage to be out of use for the install days, then walk-on in about 24 hours and parking in about 48 once the topcoat goes down.
