Epoxy Floors in Eastmark

Mesa’s newest slabs, on the old GM proving grounds.

Local floor coatings

Eastmark’s Trusted Epoxy Team

Eastmark rose on the land where General Motors used to torture-test cars, and since 2013 it has poured some of the newest residential concrete in Arizona. New slabs are the easiest floors we install — with two catches every Eastmark owner should know.

First, the builder’s sprayed-on curing compound has to be completely diamond-ground off, because nothing bonds through it. Second, young concrete has to finish curing and pass a moisture check before coating. Get both right and a new-build floor is flawless for decades.

What Eastmark Floors Are Up Against

Curing compound on every slab

Production builders seal fresh pours with a curing compound that looks like clean concrete and repels coatings like wax repels paint. It does not wear off in any meaningful way. Grinding it off is non-negotiable prep on an Eastmark garage — and it is the step the cut-rate installers quietly skip.

The empty-garage window

The best time to coat a new-build garage is the month after closing, while it is still empty and the slab has cured through. Every year that passes fills the garage and adds another layer of stuff to move — the floor itself never gets easier or cheaper than in month two.

Timing matters

Getting the Timing Right in Eastmark

Let the slab finish curing

Concrete needs roughly a month after the pour before it is ready for coating, and we verify with a moisture test rather than a calendar. On a spring closing that usually means we can grind the week you get the keys.

Frequently asked questions

Eastmark Floor Coating FAQs

We just closed on a new build. When can you start?
If the slab is at least ~30 days old and passes a moisture check, immediately — and an empty new-build garage is a fast, clean install. Book before the moving truck if you can; the boxes can land on the finished floor.
The builder offered an epoxy upgrade. Same thing?
Usually not — builder-option floors are typically a thin epoxy rolled onto a lightly prepped slab, which is why so many peel. Ask any installer two questions: do you diamond-grind, and is the topcoat polyaspartic. Those two answers are the whole difference.
What does the moisture check actually involve?
A meter reading across the slab — more if the numbers look borderline — done during the quote visit, not after. Young concrete releases water as it cures, and coating over it is how bubbles happen. If your slab needs another two weeks, we tell you and come back.
